The dedicated staff comprising Art on Wheels is motivated by the tremendous need to revitalize arts education in the Greater Richmond Region, bridging gaps in existing programming and creating new avenues of exploration through its historically focused arts curriculum.
Andrea Olson
Executive Director
Hailing from Chicago by way of Savannah and Germany, Andrea Olson has been the Gallery Director of several fine art galleries over the past five years. Olson is a Suma Cum Laude graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design, one of the most prestigious private arts colleges in the country. In 2004, she received her B.F.A in Illustration, with a Minor in Drawing. Olson is currently working on a certificate in Nonprofit Management from Virginia Commonwealth University. An advocate of community service, she has devoted countless hours to nonprofit galleries, performing arts venues, and nursing homes along with offering her time to community re-building projects through Habitat for Humanity and working with the disabled. She is motivated by a tremendous need to give back; which is apparent through her tireless efforts to invigorate disadvantaged communities with innovative programming. On founding Art on Wheels, Olson says, “It was very important to me to make certain that our programs included a contextual history of each process, something that I feel many times is lacking in art education. It is our hope to bridge these gaps in standard programming, to build a well rounded, active and culturally engaged community.”
Kevin Orlosky
Director of Programs
After graduating with Honors from the highly regarded Painting and Printmaking Department at the Savannah College of Art & Design, Kevin Orlosky continued his exploration of traditional and alternative processes in both the public and private arena. Through his work with the esteemed Anchor Graphics Print Shop at Columbia College in Chicago, Orlosky’s understanding of technique and teaching methodology expanded under the tutelage of world renowned printmaker David Jones. In addition to his training in artistic processes, his Development and Curatorial work as Assistant Director at the award-winning Gallery5 visual and performing arts center in Richmond have further refined his already impressive capabilities. Having won several awards for his work, Orlosky exhibits his art nationally and internationally, and is included in many private collections. On bringing his process-oriented curriculum to the Greater Richmond Region through Art on Wheels, Orlosky says, “The impact of these processes is immediate and long-lasting. The significance of quality art education is astounding. It transforms communities, it changes lives.”
