The No Child Left Behind Act lists the Arts as a core academic subject. Despite this, arts education curriculum has steadily eroded since it’s enactment. Arts Education; Creating Student Success in School, Work and Life 2006
Art on Wheels was founded to meet the educational needs of a concerned and demanding public, who are currently witnessing cut-backs in art education programming despite its proven mental and physical benefits to all ages.
With this in mind, Art on Wheels has developed a multitude of finely crafted courses which focus not only on the benefits of active arts participation, but on historically significant arts processes not included in standard programming due to budgetary, equipment, or instructional limitations.
Presenting these vital but often overlooked art processes in a unique and innovative format, Art on Wheels brings its comprehensive classes, workshops, demonstrations and lectures into a wide variety of settings, in an effort to increase awareness and promote cultural enrichment. Professional artists travel with all supplies to instruct participants in their own facilities through hands-on, age-appropriate programs.
A proponent of the importance of diversity in our community, Art on Wheels programs celebrate our multicultural heritage through its many inclusive, esteem-building enrichment opportunities. By introducing a wide variety of processes and providing historical context and significance, Art on Wheels works toward a raised awareness of the benefits of integrating the arts into all areas of learning. Art on Wheels advocates this mission in an effort to increase contextual understanding and appreciation for the Arts, propagating knowledge while promoting well-rounded citizens.
